Spelling Strine in Firefox

Monday night's techie tip – for Mac users.

Sick of the Firefox browser marking your perfectly good colourful Australian English as misspelled? Wondering why the System and Firefox preference settings don't make any difference on this front? Is turning off spell check altogether not an option?

Download this addon.

Then, the important part, you need to follow the instruction that the developer doesn't provide – not on the download site, not on his "website" – but which I found here. (Thanks Rooster.)

In any text editing field (such a blog posting/commenting field, or a forum entry field) right-click and choose "English / Australia" from the Languages menu.

As Kelvin Eldridge points out on The Rooster's site, the dictionary in this addon is five or so years old. If that ends up bothering you, and it may not, go here to get a current one for little more than the cost of a Charbucks coffee.
